Vietnam is making efforts to enforce new national legal provisions and comply with international commitments regarding judicial proceedings for commercial disputes under the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods and other recent national laws. Currently, the Vietnam Authority for AIDS Control (VAAC) procures pediatric antiretroviral (ARV) medications with support from the Global Fund.  However, unforeseen budget planning obstacles combined with a significant increase in pediatric patients created a potentially serious shortage of pediatric ARV medications in early 2018. Working to avert this shortage, USAID’s Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management Project rapidly responded to VAAC’s needs, helping them forecast and procure a one-time order for pediatric ARVs.
