Education

Children at a USAID-supported primary school in Juba, South Sudan
USAID is reaching children who previously lacked access to schools with quality basic education.

South Sudan has the world’s highest proportion of out-of-school children. To help South Sudanese children access basic education, USAID is supporting conflict-affected children and communities with temporary learning spaces and psychosocial and trauma care while promoting peacebuilding and tolerance, and supporting community-based schools serving out-of-school children, particularly girls. USAID is also boosting women’s leadership in higher education through a partnership with Indiana University.
