Jason Foley, a career member of the Senior Executive Service, serves as Deputy Assistant Administrator (DAA) in USAID's Office of Afghanistan and Pakistan Affairs. Previously, he served as DAA in the Asia Bureau and as Director of Strategic and Program Planning in the Bureau of Policy, Planning, and Learning. In these roles, Mr. Foley testified to the U.S. Congress, negotiated policy issues at the U.S. National Security Council, represented the U.S. Government in meetings with senior foreign government officials, conducted press interviews, and delivered speeches.

Before joining USAID, Mr. Foley served as the Director of Strategic Planning at the U.S. State Department, Budget Director in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Benin. Prior to his government service, he was a senior manager for a consulting firm where he advised foreign governments on how to restructure their financial sectors.

Mr. Foley also currently serves as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s Graduate School of Foreign Service where he designed and teaches a course on the “Role of Development in U.S. National Security.”

He earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and a Master's degree from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.
