A few months ago, USAID and the Ministry of Education launched the project "Aprender a Ler" to improve reading skills for students in grades 2 and 3. This pilot project will begin by covering 120 schools in Nampula and Zambezia provinces.
Last week, the project was launched at provincial level in Nampula, at Lurio Hotel, alongside with the Nampula’s Governor, Mrs. Cidália Manuel Chauque. Amongst participants were also Nampula’s Director of Education and cultural affairs, Dr. Raúl Nhamunwe and the Ministry of Education’s National Directors of Planning and Primary schooling, Dr. Manuel Rego and Dr. Antuía Soverano respectively. Some school staff from the 3 districts where the project will be implemented, namely Nampula, Monapo, Morrupula, were also present to learn more about the various project activities.
