For Immediate Release
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) PRESTASI scholarship program is now accepting applications from Indonesian public servants and other accomplished professionals interested in attaining postgraduate degrees in the United States or Indonesia. Scholarship opportunities are available for Indonesians interested in pursuing degrees in the fields of public policy, economics, political science, public administration, environment, health, and education.
“The United States is proud to support scholarship opportunities for bright Indonesian professionals who have a desire to combat extreme poverty and support Indonesia’s development,” said USAID Mission Director Andrew Sisson. “After completion of their postgraduate degrees, these professionals and public servants will return to Indonesia and expand knowledge and technical expertise in important sectors. We hope they apply their new skills in helping lift poor and vulnerable Indonesians out of poverty and in advancing the nation to be a more resilient, prosperous, democratic society.”
“The USAID PRESTASI scholarship program has helped the development of our staff. We find the alumni are able to contribute positively to our bureaucratic reform process in the Ministry of Finance,” said Dr. Irfa Ampri, Head of Regional and Bilateral Policy, Fiscal Policy Office, Ministry of Finance.
In 2014, USAID PRESTASI scholarship recipients were selected from nearly 700 applicants from across Indonesia for their high academic performance, professional experience, and a dedication to improving the lives of others. Since 1950, USAID and its predecessor agencies have provided scholarships to study in U.S. universities for more than 3,500 Indonesians, and non-degree training to tens of thousands more. PRESTASI is one of the many education programs supported by USAID in Indonesia.
USAID is the lead U.S. Government agency that works to end extreme global poverty and to promote resilient, democratic societies while advancing security and prosperity. USAID has a deep commitment to work as a partner in fostering sustainable development. USAID seeks to empower and support through collaboration. The Agency works hand-in-hand with those it seeks to assist as well as others striving to support the most vulnerable.
Application deadline is May 15, 2016. For more information on PRESTASI and how to apply, visit http://www.prestasi-iief.org/index.php/id/.
