Objective:
The goal of USAID’s Caribbean Clean Energy Program is to accelerate clean energy development in the region, with special focus on Jamaica and the Eastern Caribbean. These project components contribute to the host government established targets for enhancing energy security and reducing prices, while concurrently supporting national efforts to curb greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Key activities include support of policy formulation, improving the enabling environment for clean energy development, greening the grid – optimizing variable renewable energy integration, private-sector leverage in clean energy investment, energy efficiency and donor coordination. The program will have an estimated total investment of US$15 million, subject to the availability of funds.
